The ninth edition of the Summer School will take place in Moena (Italian Dolomites) from June 16 to June 22, 2024


The Summer School is organized by the Osservatorio Permanente sull'Applicazione delle Regole di Concorrenza based at the Faculty of Law of Trento University ("Osservatorio Antitrust”). It is co-directed by Gian Antonio Benacchio and Michele Carpagnano. The Summer School offers a unique opportunity to analyze and study EU Competition Law and Economics at an advanced level. The advanced course combines academic studies with a pragmatic approach to the application of competition rules. 

The academic program is designed to cover both substantive and procedural aspects of EU Competition Law with practical sessions and how to do sessions (Antritrust compliance program, dawn-raids, mock trial before the General Court). Four cocktail-talks will focus on: i) The Goals of Antitrust; ii) Democracy and Antitrust: Fight Against Power; iii) New Market Definition Guidelines and iv) Competition vs. Regulation. 


The fourth edition of the Summer School will take place in Moena (Italian Dolomites) from Sunday, June 11 to Saturday, June 17 2023.


The Summer School is organized by the Osservatorio Permanente sull'Applicazione delle Regole di Concorrenza based at the Faculty of Law of Trento University ("Osservatorio Antitrust”). It is co-directed by Gian Antonio Benacchio and Michele Carpagnano. The Summer School offers a unique opportunity to analyze and study EU Competition Law and Economics at an advanced level. The advanced course combines academic studies with a pragmatic approach to the application of competition rules. 

The academic program is designed to cover both substantive and procedural aspects of EU Competition Law with practical sessions and how to do sessions (multijurisdictional dawn raids, compliance programs and moot court). There will also be a plein air lesson held by Professor Emeritus Richard Whish and a keynote speech held by Mr. Ian Stewart Forrester. Moreover, four cocktail-talks will focus on: i) revolving doors in Antitrust, ii) Antitrust compliance in real life, iii) Market definition, iv) Public Antritrust enforcement and independence of the Authorities. 


The seventh edition of the Summer School will take place in Moena (Italian Dolomites) from the 12th to the 18th of June 2022.

The Summer School is organized by the Osservatorio Permanente sull'Applicazione delle Regole di Concorrenza based at the Faculty of Law of Trento University ("Osservatorio Antitrust”). It is co-directed by Gian Antonio Benacchio and Michele Carpagnano. The Summer School offers a unique opportunity to analyze and study EU Competition Law and Economics at an advanced level. The advanced course combines academic studies with a pragmatic approach to the application of competition rules. 

The academic program is designed to cover both substantive and procedural aspects of EU Competition Law with practical sessions and how to do sessions (Antritrust compliance program, mock trial before the General Court...). Moreover, three cocktail-talks will focus on: i) game theory and competition policy; ii) bid-rigging; iii) global compliance. 


The fourth edition of the Summer School will take place in Moena (Italian Dolomites) from 17th to 24th June 2018

The Summer School is organized by the Osservatorio Permanente sull'Applicazione delle Regole di Concorrenza based at the Faculty of Law of Trento University ("Osservatorio Antitrust”). It is co-directed by Gian Antonio Benacchio and Michele Carpagnano. The Summer School offers a unique opportunity to analyze and study EU Competition Law and Economics at an advanced level. The advanced course combines academic studies with a pragmatic approach to the application of competition rules. 

The academic program is designed to cover both substantive and procedural aspects of EU Competition Law with practical sessions and how to do sessions (Antritrust compliance program, mock dawn-raids, mock trial before the General Court, and Moot Court on Competition litigation). There will also be a plein air lesson held by Professor Emeritus Richard Whish and a keynote speech held by Professor Frederic Jenny. Moreover, four cocktail-talks will focus on: i) bid-rigging as a new Competition enforcement trend; ii) new protectionism and its impact on Competition Law enforcement in the EU; iii) digital economy and Competition Law; and iv) Brexit. A new feature of the fourth edition will be the Moot Court on Competition litigation, in which participants will be engaged in a simulation on Competition litigation with leading experts from Academia, Competition Authorities and Business community.

The Trento Summer School on Advanced EU Competition Law & Economics is a training program designed to deepen your knowledge and to improve your practical skills about EU Competition Law & Economics.

The Summer School is organized by the Osservatorio Permanente sull'Applicazione delle Regole di Concorrenza based at the Faculty of Law of Trento University ("Osservatorio Antitrust”). It is co-directed by Gian Antonio Benacchio and Michele Carpagnano. The Summer School offers a unique opportunity to analyze and study EU Competition Law and Economics at an advanced level. The advanced course combines academic studies with a pragmatic approach to the application of competition rules. 

The academic program is designed to cover both substantive and procedural aspects of EU Competition Law with practical sessions and how to do sessions (Antritrust compliance program, mock dawn-raids, mock trial before the General Court, and Moot Court on Competition litigation). The third edition of the Summer School will take place in Moena (Italian Dolomites) from 18th to 24th June 2017. The Summer School is organized by the Osservatorio Permanente sull'Applicazione delle Regole di Concorrenza based at the Faculty of Law of Trento University ("Osservatorio Antitrust”). It is co-directed by Gian Antonio Benacchio and Michele Carpagnano. The Summer School offers a unique opportunity to analyze and study EU Competition Law and Economics at an advanced level. The advanced course combines academic studies with a pragmatic approach to the application of competition rules. The academic program is designed to cover both substantive and procedural aspects of EU Competition Law with practical session (complaints, compliance programs, leniency applications and estimation of antitrust damages) and how to do sessions (mock dawn-raids and mock trial before the EU General Court). There will also be two workshops on hot topics in EU Competition Law and Economics and a keynote speech on New Nationalism and Competition. Moreover, three cocktail-talks will focus on: i) the relationship between Public and Private Antitrust enforcement; ii) how Competition Law is seen from the Digital market; and iii) on the Competition viewed from the business and finance community. A new feature of the third edition will be the Antitrust Compliance Night where participants will be engaged in a play role game with leading expert on antitrust compliance from Academia, Business community and Practice.

The second edition of the Summer School will take place in Moena (Italian Dolomites) from 12th to 18th June 2016. The Summer School is organised by the Osservatorio Permanente sull'Applicazione delle Regole di Concorrenza based at the Faculty of Law of Trento University ("Osservatorio Antitrust”).

It is co-directed by Gian Antonio Benacchio and Michele Carpagnano.

The course offers a unique opportunity to analyse and study EU Competition Law and Economics at an advanced level.

This advanced course combines academic studies with a pragmatic approach to the application of competition rules.

The academic program is designed to cover both substantive and procedural aspects of EU Competition Law with practical sessions (complaints, compliance programs, leniency applications and estimation of antitrust damages and demonstrations (dawn-raids and EU General Court proceedings). There will also be two workshops on hot topics in EU Competition Law and Economics, two keynote speeches on powers, functioning and guarantees of Competition Authorities and a Cocktail-talk on Digital Economy & Competition Law. A new feature of the second edition is a round-table where the Presidents of the Italian, French, Luxembourg, Spanish and Basque Competition Authorities will discuss on key issues and new developments of Competition Law enforcement in the EU.
